This cover is the artwork of Lorenzo Foglia, a master goldsmith from Florence. The crafting process, which spanned several months, utilized advanced techniques of repoussage and chasing. It’s worth noting that the cover was sculpted from a single piece of silver, adding to its intricacy, especially given the absence of a reverse side. The meticulous detailing and precision evident in the chiseling further underscore its value. As time progresses, discovering such unparalleled craftsmanship will undoubtedly become rare.
Artist Information
Born in Viareggio in 1971, Lorenzo Foglia spent his early years immersed in his family’s workshop. Under the guidance of his father and grandfather, he honed his skills in metalwork, mastering both embossing and chiseling. Throughout his career, Lorenzo has crafted furniture and jewelry for European royalty, as well as for the theater and cinema. He has twice earned the “Art in a Jewel” award from the Florence Gift Mart. As the current President of the Silversmiths in Florence, Lorenzo holds recognition as a “Master Craftsman” by the Tuscany Region. Furthermore, he’s an “OMA Craftsman”and designated a “Master of Art and Craft” by Milan’;s Cologni Foundation. In his recent work with K-OVER’s “works ofart” project, every champagne cover he’s crafted bears his signature.
