This exquisite cover was inspired by a lively gathering in Dubai, where K-OVER had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Paola Vuilleumier, the owner of Villa Cimbrone. Enchanted by K-OVER’s craftsmanship with champagne and wine bottle covers, among other art pieces, she commissioned a champagne bottle cover designed to enhance the beauty of her villa in Ravello.
Villa Cimbrone has been a family-run business since 1960, now managed by the fifth generation of the Vuilleumier family. Nestled in the breathtaking Amalfi Coast, the villa is truly a slice of paradise. Dating back to the 1300s, the family has restored it to its original splendor as a prestigious historical site and botanical garden.
The old cellar of Villa Cimbrone was the serendipitous meeting point for K-OVER and the Vuilleumier family. Sharing a deep passion for wine, the family boasts a sublime and invaluable collection that guests can savor in this enchanting setting.
Mrs. Vuilleumier sought a memorable piece that would forever remind her of her beloved villa, yet she desired something beyond a traditional painting. She envisioned a functional artwork that could be used during the villa’s exclusive events, such as high-profile weddings and parties.
The cover was crafted by Marco Fedi, utilizing techniques such as embossing and chiselling. Made from 999% pure silver, the project spanned over a month to complete. The villa is beautifully depicted in shining silver, while the rest of the cover boasts a diamond finish. Mrs. Vuilleumier closely followed the progress, providing only a photograph as a reference, and was thrilled with the outcome.
Today, the K-OVER stands proudly at the main entrance of Villa Cimbrone, attracting the curiosity and admiration of many guests. Due to its popularity, Marco Fedi is now creating a new cover for a couple who will soon celebrate their wedding at the villa. This piece, like its predecessor, promises to be another stunning testament to the artistry of K-OVER and the timeless elegance of Villa Cimbrone.
