Interview with Stefano Vigni – Designer & Creative Director

Designer & Creative Director

In the world of high-end craftsmanship and bespoke luxury, every creation begins with a vision. Stefano Vigni, designer and creative director, is a figure who transforms artistic sensitivity into powerful visual statements. His unique language blends classical art with contemporary edge. In this exclusive interview, he takes us behind the scenes of his collaboration with K-OVER, sharing his journey and the creative philosophy behind each project.

1. Your professional journey spans from photography to design. How did that transition happen, and how has your experience in photography influenced your approach to design?

I started working very young, around 14 years old, in the Foglia family workshop in the center of Florence. That’s where I discovered a true passion—for art and for the hands-on nature of artisan work. It gave me great satisfaction right from the beginning. While I’ve always been drawn to classical art, I wanted to give my work as a metal engraver a different feel—a lighter hand, more geometric and structured forms. A major turning point in my career was becoming a certified Fabergé Work Master, inspired by the Russian tradition of crafting the iconic Fabergé eggs.

2. You’ve worked with luxury brands like Gucci and Prada. What key lessons did those experiences teach you, and how do they influence your work with K-OVER today?

Mastering the Fabergé technique allowed me to connect with clients seeking unique, high-end luxury pieces. I created exclusive, one-of-a-kind objects for them. That experience eventually gave me the confidence to open my own workshop, which over time brought me immense satisfaction. However, the artisan sector has faced challenging times, and like many of my peers, I’ve had to navigate some difficult periods.

3. What has been the most rewarding challenge in designing luxury objects?

Without a doubt, balancing tradition and innovation. Blending the timeless elegance of classical goldsmithing with modern aesthetics and practical functionality is a constant challenge. K-OVER covers must be design pieces—yes—but they also need to be functional and rich with meaning.

4. How does a new K-OVER design come to life? Can you walk us through your creative process, from initial idea to finished product?

Each cover starts with a personal idea and is crafted entirely by hand. While originally intended as champagne chillers, they are also true design pieces—decor elements that stand apart from anything currently on the market. Take the Incontro cover, for example: it was inspired by Picasso’s paintings and tells a love story. The most recent cover I designed is a tribute to the birth of my nephew Diego, and draws inspiration from classical art.

5. What innovations or trends in luxury design do you find most exciting for the future?

It’s hard to predict the future of craftsmanship—it’s a constantly evolving field. You have to stay true to tradition while responding to today’s tastes and expectations. That’s why I believe K-OVER’s concept is so strong. These covers are entirely new objects, crafted using classic techniques but with a modern aesthetic that fits seamlessly into contemporary settings. Of course, they’re high-end items: they start with fine raw materials like silver and involve a meticulous artisan process that can take months. Every detail and finishing touch must be perfect—nothing is left to chance. That’s why these covers are true luxury pieces, meant for a discerning audience who understands their value.
